We Are Wangkumarra

We are Wangkumarra people, the Traditional Custodians of the far western region of Queensland the north-eastern corner of South Australia and the north-western corner of New South Wales. Our ancestral lands stretch across the desert and channel country, rich with stories, songlines, and deep connections to waterholes, sandhills, and stone.

As descendants of the Ebsworth family (pictured left), we carry forward a strong legacy of resilience, cultural knowledge, and connection to Country. Our families have maintained language, law, and cultural practices through generations of change, always holding onto who we are and where we come from.

Wangkumarra identity is shaped by our kinship, our shared responsibility to Country, and our commitment to keeping our knowledge alive. Whether we live on Country or away from it, we stay connected through story, community, and the strength of our ancestors.
