Respecting Cultural Protocols

This website has been created by Wangkumarra people to share our language, stories, and knowledge in ways that honour our culture and our Elders. We ask all visitors to engage with this space respectfully and to follow cultural protocols when using the materials or connecting with the people behind this project.

Please keep in mind:

  • Cultural knowledge is not just information — it is living and sacred.
Treat it with care, and always seek permission before using it beyond personal or educational purposes.

  • Some stories, images, or words may have restrictions.
These may relate to gender, age, or cultural context. We will do our best to guide you, but when in doubt, please ask.

  • Always acknowledge the source.
Give credit to the Wangkumarra community, Elders, and contributors when sharing or referring to materials from this site.

  • Contact us before using materials publicly.
Whether for teaching, publishing, or exhibitions, we are happy to guide you through the correct permissions process.

  • Be a good ally.
Listen deeply, respect boundaries, and follow the lead of community voices. Support our goals, stand up for our rights, and help create spaces where First Nations people feel safe, seen, and heard.

Following these protocols shows respect for our people, our knowledge systems, and our Country. Thank you for walking with us in a good way.
